Regular scanning
The Audited by Netcraft service regularly tests your internet infrastructure and informs you of the state of your network, listing all externally accessible hosts, together with any vulnerabilities and misconfigurations that it finds. Scans can be scheduled to run daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, depending on your needs, and can be supplemented with ad-hoc rescans, should you need to test any changes or new deployments.
Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance
The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) was created in 2004 with the aim of specifying security measures for merchants with an online presence. The PCI Security Standards Council are charged with developing, maintaining and distributing the PCI DSS.
Both Visa and Mastercard require, or strongly recommend in some cases, that online merchants undergo regular security scanning by an approved third party.
Netcraft is a PCI Approved Scanning Vendor (PCI ASV) with over 15 years of experience. This means that merchants can use the Audited by Netcraft service to fulfil the regular external vulnerability scanning requirement (PCI DSS requirements 11.2.2 and 11.2.3) of PCI compliance. It also gives our customers the assurance that the Audited by Netcraft service is itself independently tested annually to meet the ASV standards.
Security seals
Displaying an Audited by Netcraft seal shows your customers that you are actively maintaining your network security and protecting your systems and infrastructure from remote attacks. The Audited by Netcraft seal is served dynamically and shows the date of the last test on which no serious vulnerabilities were detected. As Netcraft updates its scanning suite regularly, adding new tests for the latest security exploits as they are discovered, your customers can be confident in the security of a site with an Audited by Netcraft seal.
