Netcraft’s customers include three of the four largest companies in the world by market capitalisation; half of the twenty largest banks in Europe; three of the ten largest banks in Africa and twelve of the top fifty banks worldwide ranked by market capitalisation.
Additionally, Netcraft provides cybercrime disruption services to five of the top fifty governments in the world ranked by GDP, and the biggest cryptocurrency exchange ranked by volume.
Since the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced plans for the UK government to work with Netcraft in November 2016, we have protected UK government departments and hosting infrastructure with automatic defences to reduce the impact of cyber-attacks affecting the UK. The Director of GCHQ, Jeremy Fleming speaking in June 2019 called this “One of our most effective strategies so far” and “seriously strategic innovation” citing that the proportion of phishing hosted in the UK had been reduced from 5.4% to under 2% in three years, and that HMRC is now the 146th most phished entity on the internet. Before we started it was 16th.
Netcraft currently performs takedowns for four of the ten most phished companies on the internet and in aggregate against around 30% of all phishing attacks, running at around one takedown group every fifteen seconds.
Netcraft has found that extensive automation combined with human initiative results in prompt removal of phishing sites. Our long established relationships with the internet infrastructure community, together with high volume data flows have created an excellent platform foranti-cybercrime activities.
